Moving forward.

a tribute to a pal.

I'm obviously behind in my posting: mea culpa. So now? Let's just do it.

Things are looking great in the lives of many of my close friends these days: new apartments, new job opportunities, new career moves, new adventures, new drawings... And all of them steps forward. None of this came without resistance though, a little bit of fighting and sadness and pushing and indecision, and fear and doubt and all those other things that sometimes obscure our sight and mental clarity. Again, these are all part of the process though, and in the end, they act as foils and contrasts, catalysts and propellants that encourage us to do better, work harder and move forward; they make the good times that much better--they make our victories earned. It's good to have to fight.

As Robert Henri says in his terrific book, The Art Spirit:

"Do not let the fact that things are not made for you, that conditions are not as they should be, stop you. Go on anyway. Everything depends on those who go on anyway."

Tomorrow: my new portfolio. No more procrastinating, I'm just posting it.
